Hi Mary!
The Singer Treadle lives in the sewing room and only has to be opened to be ready to go. There are two more treadles downstairs in the dining room (or "lower sewing room"). Most of my vintage machines reside underneath a large table in the "upper" sewing room. When I want to use a particular one, I get it out and put it on top of that table and away I go!

This is a really nice feature. I read a little about the straight stitch machine - aka treadle. Is your treadle an antique? How do you find space in your sewing room for all of those machines? I would love to see a picture of your sewing room!
