If you've been keeping up with this saga, you'll know that I've temporarily suspended work on my black/white/cream wardrobe capsule because, well, I'm tired of black!

This time I was working with my rose colored stash fabrics. I had to purchase a few more, since the ones I had didn't all work together. What I've come up with doesn't really follow the "rule of three" because I don't have three coordinating colors, and there aren't enough skirts and pants. I'll figure that out later. My season is "Summer" and yellow-greens and golds don't really flatter me. I'd like to introduce some blue in here somehow.

Garment Fabric Description

Key Garment: Skirt

Updated 7/20/03

Rose "Linen" Skirt

Rose poly/rayon "Linen" purchased from Hancock Fabrics

7/3/03: This pattern is done, and the fabric is cut. I decided on an elastic waist, yoked, gore skirt about 28" long.

7/20/03: Done! Just finished the hem (by hand, no less!) I'll get a picture soon.

Coordinate 1: Jacket

Poly Jacket

Sheer crushed polyester purchased from Hancock Fabrics.

Finished 6/18/03. Check out the specifics here in the Project Gallery.

1a: ?????

Stretch Twill purchased on eBay last year

I've gotten suggestions for this from Patternreview's message board regulars. Exciting stuff:

  • sheath
  • Jeans jacket
  • skirt
  • Swing coat

I just can't decide! One day it's definitely a skirt. Tomorrow it'll be a sheath. Ughh.

1b: Jacket

Watermelon stretch poplin purchased from Fabric Club dot Com last year.

Coordinate 2: Blouse

Toile Empire

Toile cotton purchased from Hancock Fabrics. Coordinates with dusty rose linen and rose linen.

Update 5/30/03: Pattern is done. Here's a quick sketch:

Update 6/22/03: All done! Love it! Have a closer look in the Project Gallery.

2a: Pants

Dusty Rose Linen

Dusty Rose poly/rayon "Linen" purchased from Hancock Fabrics. This will be a (hopefully) wearable muslin of my PMB slacks.

Update 5/30/03: These are done, all but the hem and the waistline hook.

Check them out in the Project Gallery.

2b: Linen Top

White Linen Top

Hmm. There's no fabric here, just a colored cell. Perhaps a white garment like linen pants or skirt.

6/21/03: Update! My friend gave me most of the contents of her stash not long ago. In the haul was a smallish piece of white linen. Pretend the white square at left is it!

I have a top cut out. It's very similar to a Vogue Adri top that I have long admired. Mine won't be exactly the same, but similar!

6/29/03: Mine's all done. Have a look.

Coordinate 3: Camisole or Tank

Polyester/lycra onion skin purchased from Hancock Fabrics. Coordinates with rose linen and green crushed polyester.

3a: Tee Updated 7/20/03

Rose Striped Top

Cotton Interlock found on eBay last year. Coordinates with rose linen.

7/20/03: This is about 90% done. I got sidetracked finishing the skirt. This won't go with it, though, because of the style--too many horizontal lines! Here's a sketch:

Basketweave cotton purchased from Hancock Fabrics. Coordinates with rose linen

Bonus: Pants

Rose Plaid Pants

Rose Plaid Fabric

This is a rose plaid that I had already. I don't know how it got left out of this plan. It's an eBay find from last year.

The pants are finished 6/28/03 and are the best fitting PMB pants thus far!

Bonus: Skirt

Black flounce skirt

Fabric: Polyester Shantung from Miriam's stash. Details here!
