Handwheel Rotates away from you
This machine came from an antiques shop in a nearby town. Although I was looking for a Singer, this Standard caught my eye and demanded that I take it home!
Now that I've had it for a while, there are a number of things I like about it. First, it has a marked needle plate. None of my old Singers have this feature, and I sure need it to gauge my seams. Second, the automatic lift is quiet and keeps me from having to handle the head to raise and lower the machine. Unlike the lift on a White, it seems sturdy enough to actually do its job without breaking. And finally, the Standard so pretty that my husband *wants* to keep it downstairs where everyone can see it!
